Personal AI assistant in your messenger: eight errands from one Monday, and what the agent did with each

A personal AI assistant is worth having when it holds your whole day, not one question at a time. We gave our test agent the Monday of Sofia, a freelance designer in Lisbon: a client call, the dentist, five people for dinner and a sister's birthday coming up. Below is the real chat, eight errands in one conversation, from the plan at 9:00 to the summary of what is still open, and what it all cost in magnets.

The short answer
A personal AI assistant is an agent that takes your errands in plain words and keeps track of them through the day: it plans, remembers what you tell it, reminds you at the right minute, looks things up with sources and drafts the messages you owe people. On WAM Agents it is your own agent in Telegram, with the name and avatar you choose, and everything happens in one chat.
The difference from a chatbot shows up in the afternoon. By then the assistant knows your morning: who you are meeting, how long you have to cook, whose birthday is coming. In our test the eight errands of one Monday cost about 15 , well inside the Free plan.
The test: one Monday, eight errands
Sofia is a freelance UX designer in Lisbon. Her Monday has a hard edge, a call with a client at 11:00 for which the screens must be ready, and a soft middle: a bill, the dentist in Alvalade at 16:30, a reply to her coworking, the gym if possible. At 20:00 four friends come for dinner, one of them vegetarian. And her sister's birthday is two weeks away.
We sent the eight errands to our test agent on 30 October 2026, one after another in one conversation, the way you would over a day. The times in the chats are real. Sofia, her sister and her client are made up; the agent's replies are real and quoted as they came, sometimes shortened, never added to.
1. Turn a messy list into a plan
The first message is the kind everyone has in their head on a Sunday evening: everything at once, in no order.
Thirty-three seconds. Every fixed point stayed where Sofia put it: the call at 11:00, the dentist at 16:30, dinner at 20:00. The rest got slotted around them, and the plan explains itself: two five-minute jobs go first “so they don't sit in your head”, the gym lands in the only clean window, and the last line says what to drop if the day slips.
The useful part is the judgment. A vegetarian main the whole table eats, plus one extra dish for the meat-eaters, instead of two separate dinners, is the kind of advice a friend gives, and the offer at the end is real: with Google connected, the plan goes into your calendar in one message.
2. Remember what you would otherwise repeat
A personal assistant should not ask the same questions every week. Sofia tells it three things once.
The facts went into memory, and the agent immediately checked them against the plan: no calls before ten, and the only call is at eleven. It also connected the birthday to a date to act on, 10 November, before anyone asked. Memory works across chats: tomorrow, in a new conversation, Sofia's sister is still Ines who likes ceramics and jazz. To change a fact you say so, “forget the old address” works the same way as “remember”.
3. Reminders at the right minute
Nine seconds for two reminders, in Lisbon time, with “Monday” resolved to 2 November. They arrive as messages in the same chat, so the nudge to open the call link lands where the plan already is. One-off reminders like these work on Free; Pro adds recurring ones, so “every Monday at 8:30, send me the week” becomes a habit the agent keeps for you.
4. A forecast, with its sources
Dinner on the balcony depends on the weather, and a weather answer is only as good as where it comes from.
The agent searched the web, compared three forecasts and named them: the Met Office, Weather Underground and BBC Weather. It noted where they differ, by two or three degrees in the evening, and turned the numbers into advice: sunset is at 17:35, so a lamp on the balcony and a layer for the guests. It also said the obvious thing a careful friend would add: three days out, check again on Monday morning.
5. Dinner for five in 45 minutes
This is where the morning pays off. The agent did not ask when Sofia gets home or what time the guests come: it took both from the plan and built the menu around 45 minutes after the dentist. One tagine for everyone answers the vegetarian question without a second dish. The shopping list is grouped by section, the cupboard check is separate, and the last line moves shopping to the way back from Alvalade so the morning stays free for the screens.
6. A short message that waits for you
The draft is three sentences, with the question in the first one, because an hour earlier Sofia said she likes emails short. “Nothing sent” is the rule: the agent shows the text and waits. After a yes, and with Gmail connected, it goes out from Sofia's own address. Longer texts go the same way, see AI writing assistant in Telegram: five text jobs, from a payment reminder to a post in Spanish.
7. A gift that uses what it remembers
Here the request names no one: “my sister”, “her birthday”. The rest comes from errand 2.
Fifteen seconds. The ideas follow the two interests Sofia mentioned, ceramics and jazz, stay under 50 EUR, and are local to Lisbon. The reminder went on 10 November, four days before the birthday, with a reason. The agent also said which prices it took from what it knows and offered to check what is actually on that week. That is the right order: ideas first, then a search for the one you pick.
8. The day in one message
The summary is the errand that shows the assistant was listening all along. It rebuilt the plan with everything that happened since 9:00: the 10:50 reminder sits before the call, the cooking shrank to the tagine slot, the admin moved after the call, dinner is now on the balcony. Then it listed the reminders, including the one for Ines, and four decisions that are still Sofia's. That last list is what you want on a Monday morning: not what the assistant did, but what is left for you.
What makes it a personal assistant
A chatbot answers the message in front of it. A personal AI assistant carries your day. In our test the difference showed up in small places: the dinner menu fitted the 45 minutes the plan left after the dentist, the gift ideas used what Sofia had told it an hour earlier, and the evening summary pulled the plan, the reminders and the open questions out of one long conversation without being reminded of any of it.
Three things make that possible on WAM Agents, and all three are on the Free plan:
- Memory. The agent remembers your preferences, contacts and projects across chats. You add, change or forget a fact in plain words, there is no settings screen.
- Tools. The same chat searches the web with sources, reads photos, voice notes and PDFs, sets reminders and, after you connect Google with one link, works in your Gmail, Calendar and Drive.
- One place. Everything happens in the Telegram chat you already have open. The agent starts in Telegram, and other messengers can be connected.
It is your own agent, with the name and the avatar you choose, and it runs in its own container. By default it works on DeepSeek, included in every plan; on Pro you can attach your own Claude or Codex.
What stays with you
Tips for the first week
- Start with the messy list. One long message with everything on your mind gets a better plan than five neat ones.
- Tell it the fixed points. Times you cannot move, like a call or a doctor, are what the plan bends around.
- Say once what you like. Short emails, no calls before ten, a vegetarian friend: one “remember” saves you repeating it every week.
- Ask for the source. “Where is that from?” turns any answer into something you can check.
- End the day with one question. “What is still open?” gives you tomorrow's first lines.

What it costs
Everything in this article works on Free: 200 in the first month and 100 every month after, with no card. Pro costs $13.90 a month with 400 , or $1.39 for the first month if you subscribe within 7 days of signing up. Pro also adds recurring reminders and scheduled tasks, so “every Monday at 8:30, plan my week” becomes a standing routine.
Magnets are spent only when the agent does something, never for keeping the chat open. By the balance in our agent's status line, the whole Monday, eight errands, came to about 15 : 1 to 4 per errand. On the pricing page a web search is 1.5 and 20,000 tokens of text on the default model is 1 , so a day like Sofia's fits into Free several times a month.

What can a personal AI assistant actually do in a day?
In our test it planned a Monday with times, saved three personal facts, set three reminders, checked the weather with named sources, put together a dinner menu with a shopping list, drafted a message, suggested birthday gifts and summed up the whole day. All eight errands went into one Telegram chat in plain words.
Does it really remember me, or do I repeat everything every time?
It remembers. You say “remember” once, and the agent keeps your preferences, contacts and dates across chats. In our test it used Sofia's sister's interests and birthday an hour later without being reminded. You can change or delete any fact the same way, in plain words.
Will it send messages or book things on its own?
No. The agent drafts and waits for your word. In our test it wrote the message to the coworking, said “Nothing sent” and asked what to change. Sending, paying and booking stay with you.
Do reminders come in my time zone?
Yes. Reminders fire in your time zone, and you can tell the agent your city once. Ours were set for 10:50 and 15:50 Lisbon time, exactly as asked. If you travel, tell the agent your new city.
Is a personal AI assistant free?
Everything in this article works on Free: 200 in the first month and 100 a month after, with no card. Our whole Monday came to about 15 . Pro, at $13.90 a month, gives 400 and adds recurring reminders and scheduled tasks.
Do I need a separate app?
No. The agent lives in Telegram, in a chat like any other, and other messengers can be connected. You create it in about a minute in @wamagentsbot, give it a name and an avatar, and start writing.
